Caryl Lynne Lane

Leave a Condolence

Caryl Lynne Lane, daughter of Ruth and John Eaton, Mother of Kim and Jeff Lane, Wife of Bill, Grandaughter of Alice and Samuel Eaton, Sister to Jackie Cremeens and Janie Cayman, Aunt to Paula, Pam and Terri Jo, cousin and friend to many, including “The Two Carols”, Pat, Kathleen, Wayne, Adam, Anita, Nancy and Mike.  There are simply too many relatives and friends who loved her to mention… She touched the World.
Mom was born in Hobart, IN and attended Purdue University.   She would later earn her Masters Degree from University of Michigan.  Her Masters Thesis was brilliant.
Mom was a dynamo.  She held off on getting a job so she could devote herself to her family.  This selfless woman dropped us off and picked us up every day from school.  Many years later I realized it was her way of having quality time with us before we went on our daily adventures.
Mom was the Director, Humanities and Histories Internships from 1973 – 1999.  She created a curriculum to help guide students in the search for their dream job post-college.  She cultivated relationships with major Brands, local TV stations, museums, government… you name it.  There are others that worked with her that can probably tell these stories much better than I can and have more of them to tell.  Several students called her Mom outside of the classroom.  When I was younger it made me jealous.  In adulthood it’s nothing but pride. She had a lot of kids, young adults and adults out there that deservedly looked up to her.  I was and will always remain one of them.  She was so good at what she did that when I became frustrated at the internship program at Michigan State, she not only helped me get an internship with Governor Blanchard, but she helped MSU re-create their whole internship program.  She loved that job so much.  It was her dream job, so helping others find their dream job was apropos of who she was as a human.  A true leader, mentor, advisor and friend.
