Born on January 1, 1941, Connie was the only child of Herb and Lillian Newnum. After
graduating from Bangor High School, she pursued an education and worked in communications,
media and computer applications across her career. She attended college at Western Michigan
University, Goshen College, and completed a computer degree at Davenport College. She
married a few times and had 5 children. She had a great love for nature, camping and animals
that she passionately passed on to all of her children. She was a skilled crafter creating
beautiful art in several mediums including sewing, woodburning, painting and designed the most
stunning and detailed quilts. She enjoyed the theater and played many supporting and leading
roles in high school, college and community theaters. Connie was a realist, considered wise
and kind to many and sought humor in everything.
She is survived by her longtime life partner, Marilyn Walworth, of Oklahoma, Brenda Lancaster,
daughter, St. Joseph, Holly Lancaste, daughter, of Benton Harbor, Christi Lancaster, daughter,
of Sodus, Jeffrey Lancaster, son, of Benton Harbor, and Jennifer Jackson, daughter, of
Cincinnati, OH. She helped Marily raise her two children, Laura and David Walworth.
Memorials gratefully accepted by Animal Aid of Southwestern Michigan (animalaidswmi.com) or Save A Stray (save-a-stray.org) in memory of Connie’s lifelong love of creatures.’
