Donald Allen Thompson, 75, of St. Joseph, MI passed away February 2, 2021 at Buchanan Meadows in Buchanan, MI. He was born on 7-11-1945 in Marlborough, MA. As he was born on 7-11, he considered himself lucky, a spurious claim. As a baby, Donald accompanied his parents and older brother, John, to China where his parents taught in mission schools. When the atmosphere in Communist China became too tense, the family travelled to India. Donald did not return to the United States until he was eleven. He served in the US Army as a second lieutenant during the Viet Namese Conflict. He was the aide de campe to the head of Saigon Area Forces.
Donald earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Adelphi University. For over three decades, he was a psychologist for Creedmoor State Mental Hospital. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Barbara. Together they had two children, Lauren of Atlanta, and Andrew, of Hayward, California.
