Dorothy Ann Reed-Warburton of Niles, Michigan died on July 29, 2019 she was 96 year old. Dorothy was born on May 14,1923 to Edward Chester Reed and Gladys Louise Hoese-Reed in Urbana, Illinois. She was the oldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard K. Warburton, I in July of 1982, and her second husband, Charles S. Fitzsimons in March of 1990. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard K. Warburton, II, in June of 2010; two brothers, Carl F. Reed of Niles, Michigan and Harley E. Reed of Hayward, California and a sister, Nancy M. Reed of South Bend, Indiana.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Robert H.(Suzzann) Warburton of Niles, Michigan; a sister, Vernalee Parfitt of Davis, California; nieces, Cindy Parfitt-Schulze and Candice Parfitt-Sarri of California; nephew, Edward C. Reed of South Bend, Indiana; granddaughters, Jeanette M.(Thomas) Kiehl of Niles, Michigan and Elizabeth M. Warburton of Negev Sede Boqer, Israel; grandsons, Lawrence G.(Melissa) of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Michael R.(Ashleigh) of Laporte,Indiana, Jerome R. Warburton and Christopher J. Warburton of Niles, Michigan and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy loved and owned horses and formed the Barron Lake Riding Club in the late nineteen-forties. She belonged to Hampshire Ladies Golf League in Dowagiac, Michigan and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Edwardsburg, Michigan.
She attended Indiana University of South Bend, Indiana and received her legal education in Lansing, Michigan at Michigan Judical Institute. She was employed in the legal field over twenty years as Registar of Probate Courts for Cass County Court in Michigan. She taught Legal Assistant courses at the local community college before she retired in 1991 afterward living part of the year in Sacramento, California and here in Southwest Michigan during the summer months. In 1999 she remained in Northern California until October of 2016 when she returned home to live closer to her immediate family until she passed. A Funeral Mass for Dorothy is scheduled on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at Saint Anthony de Padua Roman Catholic Church in Buchanan, Michigan with Pastor Fr. Leo Cartagena officiating.
