Freida Ann Thrasher
Freida Ann (Tyler) Thrasher, daughter of Joseph and Eva Belle (Russell) Tyler,
passed away peacefully June 17, 2021, at the age of 85.
She was born March 17, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and married Joseph
Winford Thrasher in Bristol, Indiana on March 18, 1956.
Family was very important to Freida. She was the mother of 3, grandmother to 8
and great grandmother to 8.
If you knew Freida, you knew she liked to sew. During the pandemic she made
over 600 facemasks to donate to organizations. But she really liked making stuffed
dogs (Pound Puppies) for all her grandkids and great-grandkids. She even made
puppies to donate to different organizations that distributed them to kids for
Freida and her friend of 60 years, Bev Lewis, enjoyed crafting, interior decorating,
arranging flowers, hanging wallpaper, refinishing antiques they found while
junking and so much more. They shared stories frequently about the fun they had
together doing different projects. Frieda was a giver. Most people that knew her
probably have something that reminds them of her; a dried flower arrangement, an
antique that was hers, or some type of craft. She enjoyed making things and then
giving them away.
A long-time member at Westwood Church of God in Kalamazoo, her faith in God
sustained her through many hard times and inspired many of her friends and
family. She grew up attending camp meetings at Warner Camp in Grand Junction,
MI, a place that was dear to her heart.
Freida is survived by two of her children, Joseph (Becky) Thrasher of Littleton,
Colorado, Diana (Dan) Deitrich of Baroda, Michigan; eight grandchildren: Joseph,
Chesra, Skye (Kelsey), Kyla (Brandon), Daniel (Katherine), Nicholas (Mary),
Matthew (Emily), and Kristin, eight great-grandchildren: Calvin, Jack, Jovie,
Amelia, Miles, Margo, James and Joanna,; and several nieces and nephews. Freida
was preceded by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Winford Thrasher (2017) and
daughter, Peggy Thrasher (2009); and her two sisters, Elsie Weening and Penny
