On March 26, 2018 Gary Lynn Pope, surrounded with love, went home to be with the Lord following a brief illness. He was born May 25, 1944 to George and Lorna Pope and was a lifetime resident of Eau Claire / Sodus. Gary farmed, owned PAY-LESS Grocery, worked in law enforcement and for the last thirty years of his life sold Farm Equipment @ Fairview Sales, Inc. which he and his wife, Merikay, started on April Fools Day in 1987.
Those who knew him would describe him as a loyal and trusted friend, speak of his quiet and often anonymous generosity and his ability to get the job done.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Merikay; loving son, Graydon (Dorothy) Pope; three brothers-in-law and their spouses; beloved nieces and nephews and many cousins and their families. He has gone to heaven to be with his folks and his buddies; where he can truly be “finer than frog’s hair – split three ways.”
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date. The family asks that donations be made to the George Pope Memorial Baseball Field in Sodus and/or the Hospitality House at Borgess Hospital in KalamazooPrint Obituary & Condolences
