James “Jim” Arthur Hardin met his heavenly Father on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the age of 82. He passed from this life to the next with his family surrounding him with love as he transitioned to heaven. Jim was greeted by a host of angels who went before him.
Jim was born on March 6, 1940, in Pascola, Mo., to Arthur and Gertrude (Braswell) Hardin.
He joined the U.S. Army National Guard in 1960 to serve his country.
On August 26, 1961, he married the love of his life, Toni Cannady, who became his life partner in everything. He danced and sang with Toni every evening.
Jim had a 34-year career in his family-owned business, Jim & Toni’s Dry Cleaners in South Haven. During this time, he invented the Jim Kleen Button Shield for dry cleaning.
Jim was a faithful follower of Christ, our Savior. He held many positions in his church. He gave “pocket” money to those in need that he met; he did music ministry at nursing homes from Niles to Benton Harbor. Jim wanted to save every soul he met and wanted all to meet him at the Eastern Gate. Jim’s favorite vacation was the trip to Israel where he walked in the Way of the Cross, in Jerusalem and was re-baptized in the river Jordan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Toni Hardin; daughter, Raine (Loren) Lukaszewski; son, James A. (Becky) Hardin Jr.; grandsons: Brandon (Jenna) Wyant, Cody (Lorna) Hardin, Zachary (Sierra) Hardin and Shane Hardin; great-grandchildren: Knox and Makena Wyant and Madison Hardin; bother, Milton Hardin; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Gertrude Hardin; brothers: Calvin, Larry, Clarence, and William Hardin; sister, Sherry Naegele; and grandson, Benjamin Seth Hardin.
Jim was a great role model to all and will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place through Purely Cremations and the family will honor his wishes with no funeral services.
