Jenifer “Jen” L. Collis, 38, of Hartford passed away on March 19th, 2021 at her residence.

A celebration of life will be held on April 23 at North Shore Event Center from 6-8pm. Those wishing to send floral arrangements, please contact Alyssa Shelton.

Jenifer was born on January 7th, 1983 in Saint Joseph, Michigan to Richard Collis Jr. and Lisa Werdowatz. She grew up in Coloma, Michigan, attending Lake Michigan Catholic and Coloma Public Schools. Jen worked at Pleasure Pools for 18 years and at Four Seasons Spa and Pool Service as well. Her hard work ethic was always noticed. Her strength, courage, and resilience were admirable. She always persevered with independence and determination. She had a love for music, art, and creativity. Jen had a sense of humor and brought light and laughter to those around her no matter the situation. She enjoyed nature, the beach, collecting beach glass, shells, and Indian beads. Her twin, Jaime, wasn’t just her other half, she was her best friend and growing up you could always find them side by side. Jen’s spontaneous and bubbly personality will be deeply missed.

Jenifer is survived by her significant other Joel Schmidt, his two daughters Abigail and Delilah Schmidt, mother Lisa Werdowatz, siblings Shiloe (Jeremy) Wines, Jaime Mcquillan, Jacqueline Collis, Mark (Danielle) Hampton, Matthew Hampton, and Alyssa (Sean) Shelton.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Collis Jr., grandfather Richard Collis, and grandparents Edward and Marie Werdowatz.

“Some souls just understand each other upon meeting.”- N. R. Hart

“Depth of friendship does not depend on length of acquaintance. “ – Rabindranath Tagore

Our hearts go out to both of your families’ Joel. I treasure those times we were able to share. It does not happen often when you meet new friends and everyone hits it off the way the four of us did. I’m not sure if it was the concrete work that was so relatable, Jen’s ability to outwork the guys with her “anything you can do I can do better attitude”, or all of the other similarities between us that grew an instant friendship, but there was definitely a special bond that we all shared. We sat up for hours that night laughing and carrying on…the kiddos were having a blast and as much as they didn’t want the night to end, we must not have wanted it to either, because we all ended up staying the night. It was just an unforgettable Michigan summer night. Beautiful weather, great company, old family and new friends. I wanted you to know how much we enjoyed ourselves and appreciated your hospitality. We often talk about you, Jen, and that trip. I don’t think we’ve met another couple since who we were able to mesh with so well. With sadness we send our deepest condolences to you friend… love Josh Danni & Jace Hardin
