On April 25th, 2019 Joseph Manzella, Sr. passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. After spending his youth in Chicago and Benton Harbor, he ventured across America finding his way to San Leon, Texas where he owned a shrimp boat. By 1987, he found his way back to St. Joe, where he opened his own construction business until he retired and settled in Hartford. A man with a big family and even bigger heart, he valued every moment he could spend with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The words he believed you should live by – “Life wasn’t worth living if you didn’t find something to make you laugh everyday.”
He is lovingly remembered by his wife: Renie (Miller) Manzella of Hartford, MI; children, Joseph Manzella Jr. of IL; Rick (Cissy) Manzella of OR; Darlene Alexander of TX; Tina (Robert) McCracken of TX; Vincent (Amy) Manzella of OR; Bobbie (Richard) Baumeister of MI and Roy Manzella of MO; cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Erin, Tony, Zachary, Kenneth, Stephanie, Meghan, Dominick, Jarrod, Christina, Steven, Crystal, Anthony, Joe, Brian, TonyJo, Jeron and Taz; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous others.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, John Manzella and Jessie Lee (Cunningham) Falcone; 3 children, Anthony, Rachel, Steven and 7 brothers.

Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me”.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we’re together again.

He will be missed the short talks we did have and the short time I got to spend with him. He was always so happy and loved his family and grandbabies and great grandbabies. I know he will be looking down on his family that he loved so much. Such a great man.
