Kathy Lynn (Willis) Blue, 68 of Dowagiac, went to be with our Lord on March 9, 2022, with her husband and children by her side. Kathy is no longer in pain and now able to walk freely with the angels.
Kathy was born on June 16, 1953, in Niles, MI to Harry (Piggy) and Mary Jane (Bray) Willis. On June 16, 1973, Kathy married the love of her life, Charlie Blue. Kathy was “one of a kind”, she was one that could make anyone laugh at any time. She was witty, sassy, and loved by many. Often, you didn’t know which Kathy you were going to get, and she kept you on your toes. She enjoyed her crosswords, pigs, and sunflowers. Most of all she loved and lived for her children and grandchildren; Jalen, Brittany, Sierra, Marlie Jo, and Paisley were Kathy’s pride and joy. There was never a time she would say no to running her grandchildren and their friends around in the “Granny Taxi”.
Kathy worked for Sodexo Food Service for over 20 years, most of which included being between Dowagiac Middle School and Patrick Hamilton Elementary. She loved the kids and was known to most as their “favorite lunch lady”. She was an active and very proud member of the Dowagiac Women of the Moose for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband Charlie Blue; daughters Tonya (Johnie) Brooks; Christina (Robert) Carpenter, Sister-in-law Julie (Michael) Willis; Grandchildren Jalen and Brittany Brooks, Sierra, Marlie, and Paisley Carpenter all of Dowagiac and many other family members.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Brother Michael Willis, Sister Cindy Willis, and several other family members.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 1:00pm at the Michiana Church of Christ (504 E. Prairie Ronde St., Dowagiac). Friends may visit the family at 11:30am until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the Dowagiac Moose Lodge.
