Lois Marie (Kleck) Jones died Saturday, December 5, 2020 at The Willows Assisted Living, St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements are entrusted to Purely Cremations. A memorial will be held at a later date. Those wishing to leave condolences online may do so at www.purelycremations.org.
Lois was born to Allen and Thelma (Dehnke) Kleck on July 1, 1929 in Archbold, OH. She married Robert (Bob) H. Jones in Archbold, on January 23, 1948, a 70 year unity. Lois, Bob and his mother, Vesta Frey Jones, founded Rosalind Hall in Elmore, OH in the 1950’s, the first boarding school for women with learning disabilities east of the Mississippi. Moves to Michigan – Adrian, Lansing, and finally St. Joseph – led to community involvements of Newcomers’ Clubs, Church Choirs, serving on the YWCA Board in St. Joseph as a founding member of the Safe Shelter are just a few. Bridge Clubs and Golf Teams ensued! She was a member of First Congregational Church UCC, St. Joseph. Lois, extremely creative, embraced her family and friends with beautiful homes, humor, hugs, thoughtfulness, and amazing pies. She and Bob are dancing, smoothly, cheek to cheek once again!
Lois is survived by son, Mark (Janet Sellers) Jones of Grand Rapids, MI; daughters, Penny (Dan, Sr.) Brant of Sodus, MI and Kelly (Tom) McCowan of Bondville, IL; granddaughter, Tracy (Jack) Cross; step-grandchildren, Dan Jr. (Bonnie Stephens) Brant, Kate (Don) Judd, Brishan McCowan, and Briahna McCowan; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Art (Barb) Kleck, Libertyville, IL, Don (Alice) Kleck, Archbold, OH, Bob Kleck, Greensboro, NC, Jim (Pat) Kleck, Jacksonville, FL, and Barb Kleck, Worthington, OH; aunt, Deloris Mahler; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lois was preceded in death by Bob, parents, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, William Jones, and two sisters-in-law, Myra Kleck and Jan Kleck.
