Maria Felix Chavez, 75, of St. Joseph, Michigan, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2021 with her children by her side.
Maria was born on March 27, 1946 in San Diego at Paradise Valley Hospital. She grew up in Pacific Beach, eventually moving to southeast San Diego and graduated from Lincoln High School. She worked in medical billing for several hospitals including Mercy and El Cajon Valley. Maria also worked for Parson’s Oxygen Supply Co. and Martin’s Grocery Store.
Maria was a caring, devoted mother who dedicated her life to her family. She was someone whose smile and laughter filled any room she was in. Maria never judged anyone and found joy in every person she met. She was so accepting of everyone and was the epitome of a kind-hearted soul. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all. She gave her family and friends many great memories that will always be cherished.
Maria is survived by her three children: Gil Durazo and his wife, Danielle; Lisa Chaddock and her husband, John; and DeeAnna Durazo and her husband, Mike Zanine. In addition to her children, she is survived by her parents, Henry and Carmen Romero; sisters, Frances Warren, Jessie Lopez and her husband, Michael, Rebecca Romero and Margie Romero. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Derek Durazo and his wife, Casey; Dylan Durazo and his wife, Jazmyne; Jase Durazo and his wife, Christine; Dakota Durazo; Trevor Tatham; Luke Durazo; Jessica Brown; Kevin Chaddock; and Arianna Chaddock, six great-grandchildren, six nieces, one nephew and countless life-long friends.
As Maria requested, her children will be holding a small, private celebration of life in San Diego, CA in September.Print Obituary & Condolences
