Marjorie M. Wolf, 87, Berrien Springs, went peacefully to her Lord in the early morning hours of February 20th, 2019, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in the presence of family. Marjorie was born on April 16, 1931, in Gary, Indiana, to Waldemar and Nellie (Holm) Holmquist, the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Sawyer, Mi, graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948, and married Walter O. Wolf of St. Joseph in 1949. On March 13th Walt and Marj would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They had six children, five boys and one girl.
Marjorie was a precious wife and a loving, devoted mother. She was also, in every way, a full partner of Walter in the family businesses, Wolf’s Marine and Wolf’s Divers, taking care of the bookkeeping and sales when required, but business was always secondary to the welfare and education of her children. She never missed a school event, PTA meeting, or a church service, and the family of eight, all cleaned and shined, regularly filled a pew at the First Baptist Church of St. Joseph.
As the business grew, later being taken over by a son, Warren, and the other children began their own lives, Marj and Walt moved to the shores of Lake Chapin in Berrien Springs and, when not hosting family events, began to travel. Fishing in Minnesota for Dad; cruises in the Caribbean for Mom.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Walter and six children: Walter L. (Ruth) Wolf; William A. (Bonnie) Wolf; Wesley C. (Nellie) Wolf; Madge C. (Randy) Bibler; Warren D. (Nancy McDonnall) Wolf; and Winn G. (Angela) Wolf. She has two grandchildren Jessica (Matt) Battaglia and Rebekah (Dwight) Desotelle and six great grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by one sister, Caryl Holmquist, of Seattle, WA.
The family will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday, March 9th, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 902 Broad St., St. Joseph. A period of visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the church annex, followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Refreshment will be provided afterwards.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.purelycremations.org.Print Obituary & Condolences
