Nelson Lee Layman Sr., 84, of Eau Claire, Michigan passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022.
Born to George and Maude Layman, he was the youngest of 6 sons. He grew up in Berrien Center and graduated from Berrien Springs High School. He worked in the Machine Shop Industry for 40 years in addition to working on his farm. Nelson married Phyllis Sih in September 1962. Together they raised 3 children, Nelson Lee Layman Jr., Anita Newsome and Karen Sue Bartels. He especially enjoyed time spent with his four grandsons, Jon and Sam Newsome and Luke and Kurt Bartels, in addition to his great-granddaughter Vivien Bartels.
Nelson took great pleasure in spending time with his family, working on his farm, hunting and fishing and puttering in his garden.
Services
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Bowerman’s Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Cremation has taken place.
