Nick Saula, 98, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Nick was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Niles, Ohio, to Maksim and Vasilija (Tucanac) Saula. He served as a Salvage Foreman in WWII, reclaiming military supplies left behind. He married Josephine Moletsko. Nick was a self-employed barber on Market Street in Warren, OH for over forty years and a life-long, loyal Moose and Mason. In his spare time, Nick loved dancing, woodworking and landscaping. After retirement and his beloved wife’s passing, Nick moved to Kalamazoo, MI to be near his daughter and grandchildren. He set up a woodworking shop in the garage where he spent countless hours making bird houses for everyone he knew. He also enjoyed puttering in the yard using his barbering skills to prune the shrubs.
Nick is survived by his daughter, Barbara Saula Miller; and grandchildren, Preston and Leigh Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; sisters, Katy and Mary; and brothers, Steve and Lajko. Cremation has occurred. A celebration of his life will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at his favorite watering hole, Brewsters, in Kalamazoo.
