Victoria Louise Robinson, age 76 of Saint Joseph, Michigan died peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 after a long illness.

Vicki was in poor health for a number of years, however most people that knew her would never know how sick she was. She always put others before herself and gave her all on everything she did.  Vicki worked as the office manager for Freeway Veterinary Clinic in Stevensville, followed by her position  as the Event Coordinator for the Boulevard Hotel and Conference Center in Saint Joseph. In her retirement, Vicki was very involved with dog rescue.  She spent countless hours volunteering,  fundraising and even fostering dogs until suitable homes could be found.  Vicki leaves behind two precious dogs of her own, George and Nina who never left her side.

Vicki was an amazing cook and wonderful hostess. She loved to have friends and family visit and cooking was her way of showing her love.  Raised in Texas, her Southern hospitality never left her and anyone lucky enough to be invited into her home left with a full stomach and plenty of laughs.

Vicki is survived by her husband Roger Robinson, who was the love of Vicki’s life. Vicki adored Roger and loved being his wife more than anything.  Roger took care of her selflessly and with so much love when her health began to seriously decline, truly a testament to the meaning of marriage.

Vicki was the proud mother to 5 children, Jerry Robbins of Texas, Robbie Robbins of Michigan,  Jean Marie Helms (Chris) of North Carolina, Scot Robinson (Laura) of Kansas and beloved daughter Teri Robinson who preceded her in death in 2018. Vicki was also blessed with many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vicki leaves behind many treaured friends, several of whom visited and cared for her almost daily over the last few months. The family is so appreciative of the love and support received.

In keeping with her wishes, no funeral services will be held, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In honor of Vicki’s dedication to dog rescue, donations can be made in her memory to: Animal Aid of South Western Michigan, P.O. Box 407 Saint Joseph, MI 49085.

We are sad to lose my sister, Vicki, but are very pleased that she is no longer suffering. She will be missed by us and so many others. We’re pretty sure she is introducing all the angels in heaven to pork, kraut, and potatoes about now! ❤️

Condolence from Michelle and Ron Cohen on June 3rd, 2021 3:27 pm

We were so sorry to learn of Vicki’s passing. What a truly, wonderful example of a selfless, loving woman; she was such a marvelous mentor to the many people she met. She set a great example for friends looking to be true to themselves and not being influenced by society regarding “how you were expected to be”.

Michelle had the privledge of working with Vicki at Freeway Vet Clinic for 6 years. She was a task master for keeping the “books” the would not let you go home until the manual ledgers were all reconciled. If you gave up and could not find your mistake, she could always find it the next day! She truly loved animals and was a caregiver that could encourage any patient to eat or take their medicine. She would always put the animals first and the herself second.

Vickie was also the consummate matchmaker and helped me find my soulmate of 30 years! She knew of one of our clients, Ron, who was recently divorced and was sad. Michelle was in the process of getting divorced and was sad. One day she was speaking to Ron at the clinic and said something like “Ron, you are moping around and Michelle is moping around; why don’t you just ask her out?” The rest is history…. Thanks, Vicki!

We will miss her very much; however, we know she was suffering and in pain. She is pain-free and is resting now. Heaven has acquired a new angel to care for all of the animal souls that have preceded her (known and unknown) and those who have not yet arrived. She will never be alone there and will be surrounded by her animal angel friends.

Roger, Jean, George, Nina, and other family members: Please take care of yourselves and continue to re-cooperate and heal yourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically. Take the time that you need to grieve, get some counseling, and love yourself as Vicki would want you to.

Vicki was a super kind and beautiful soul! I remember her always so happy to see me stop by in my younger days. She would say I better put a pot of coffee on as she knew I had a long drive to Detroit ahead of me. She would literally sway in her seat so intently listening to everything I had to say. She was a very real and honest person. She had the best sense of humor and a very big heart. When my Dad was going through radiation and chemo his dog got ill and he wasn’t strong enough to get him in the car to the vet. I called Vicki and she gladly went over there that day to check on his dog Freddie and called me back with the details. I came to visit my Dad and found that the dog looked great again, whatever she did and got him worked and I thank her from the bottom of my heart! I know my Mom and Dad probably thanked her already in the heavens for helping Freddie. She will be missed! I know she was loved by so many people and I was blessed to know her for sure! My prayers to her family and all her friends I know she loved you all so and you all loved her so!

I worked with Vicki at the Boulevard. One day she said to me “you need a cat”. Yes, I sure did and I got the best one ever thanks to her. Thank you Vicki for everything – thank you for being my friend. Roger – I may not be able to keep the entire promise I made to her but please know that I will be checking on you – I told her I would!
